Another clear indication of how writing matters, in the creative process. Notice how the rules of journalism and writing in general are expressed in the questions. How will I put it all together, in an attempt to bring myself into character bringing my uniqueness to the art? Where do I plan on performing and who, is my audience? Will I be able to pass off my persona, to that crowd?ĥ. Or am I gong to play it, from a psychic perspective?Ĥ. Who will I be, as a mentalist? But if I could suggest finding a mentor, who will give you feedback and help you in developing your true self in performance, you will gain so much more. Having said all that I'm aware that some claim to be better visual learners and so they gravitate more to video and that's fine. As one who started in the craft long before video was so pervasive, that books were and still are my most valued reference. Books allow one to experience in the mind that which is thought, through ones own interpretations and filters giving the reader insights unobtainable through video. Video is appropriate after learning yourself well enough, to bypass the subtitles, of visual stimulation and proceed being self aware. Consider to that most formalized learning starts with books before moving on to video, like in College and University. For this reason I always, recommend books over video at least at the beginning of our education. If we want to be unique and bring our own selves to our performances, this is a problem best dealt with at the start. When watching video we tend to copy style, movement, verbiage inflection and a whole host, of other personal characteristics that often make us look like everybody else. I'll begin by discouraging anybody from beginning with video, of any kind. View Member Profile Send Email Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts Send Instant Message Senor Fabuloso
